YOUTH MINISTRY FOR NOVEMBER, 2008
Middle School Youth Group
The Middle School Youth Group will be having our
second meeting of the year on Sunday, November 2
from 6:00-8:00pm. We will be meeting at the home
of Julia Brown for a game night. All middle schoolers
are invited to bring their favorite board game and join
us for an evening of fun and fellowship. Email Jana

Confirmation Class
As noted on the Worship page, the year-long
Confirmation mentor process concludes with a halfday
retreat on November 11, Veteran’s Day, and
concludes with the Rite of Confirmation to be held
on November 23 should either or both of our
confirmands choose to confirm their faith and join
the church. During the past year Catherine Liddell
has served as mentor for Sarah Higgins, and Joe
Mayher for CJ Valle.
Senior High Youth Group
The Senior High Youth Group is finalizing
November plans as Spirit and Sparks goes to bed,
which includes possibly going to a “U2charist”
worship on Sunday evening, November 2, at 5 p.m. at
Pleasant Street Church in Arlington. In addition they
are also scheduling their annual service project for
Wayside Hospice in Wayland, where they will
decorate the Dora Efthim Healing Garden for the
annual “Lights of Remembrance” service at the end
of the month. For more details, please contact Mary

This is the month that our Middle School Youth
Group gets underway on October 5th, to be ably led
by our new Intern Pastor and Teacher, Jana Yeaton,
and Advisor Larry Carr. All eligible youth of whom
we are aware will be emailed details of the first
offering, and each is also invited to bring a friend.
Our Confirmation mentor program comes near to
conclusion also with a meeting to be held on October
5 at 5:00 p.m. at Sarah Higgin’s home in Lexington.
The year-long program concludes in November with
Confirmation Sunday to be celebrated on
Thanksgiving Sunday (November 23.) Catherine
Liddell serves as mentor to Sarah Higgins, and Joe
Mayher to CJ Valle.
The Senior High Youth Group met twice in
September – for a Golden Ball Tavern Day
refreshment and kid craft stand at the Weston Arts
and Crafts area on the town green, as well as for
apple picking followed by apple sauce making at the
Gunderson’s. Plans for October will be
communicated to the group by email, but any
questions about the group can be asked of Mary
Cross or Joe Mayher, who serve as Advisors to this
wonderful group

SENIOR HIGH YOUTH GROUP AND CONFIRMATION UPDATES
THREE YOUTH MINISTRY PROGRAMS UNDERWAY!
First, our new Intern Pastor and Teacher, Jana
Yeaton, will be offering staff leadership for a second
year of a Middle School Youth Group. Larry Carr
will work with her as Adult Advisor. As soon as Jana
arrives in September and is settled in, members of the
group and their parents will receive information about
a first meeting. Stay tuned!
Secondly, our mentor -based Confirmation program
draws to a close this fall at the conclusion of a oneyear
process consisting of bi-monthly meetings. One
of those meetings is between Confirmand and
Mentor, and the other is with both Confirmands and
Mentors. Sarah Higgins and C. J. Valle are coming
down the home stretch toward a decision about their
faith and then whether or not to join the church. The
program concludes at the end of November.

Thirdly, Senior High Youth Advisor Mary Cross is
sending out an email to our High School youth about
dates for Fall activities—perhaps featuring an annual
apple picking outing and sauce making, as well as
catching up from the summer and making plans for
the year.
