Countryside Playschool, founded in September 1986, emphasizes flexibility rather than structure. Two well trained, experienced, and nurturing teachers respond to the children's cues as the day progresses. The blocks of time allocated for planned activities are shorter than they would be for older children.
There are only nine children in the class, supervised by two teachers. All the toys, books and playground equipment are developmentally appropriate for 2 year-old children. Each child's continual need to
grow is encouraged through:
Access to a rich environment that encompasses movement, music, art, outdoor play, informal story time and educational toys within two large, sun-filled rooms and a spacious, fenced play yard;
Stimulating social interactions that gently teach the pleasures of first friendships, sharing and nonaggressive
resolution of conflicts;
Support, recognition, and affection in an effort to promote positive self-esteem;
A safe and protected atmosphere in which to separate, explore and grow more independent;
Daily reports to parents augmented by in depth conferences throughout the year.

Background -- Started in 1986, this 2-morning per week program is set up to serve as a transition between home and school. In this warm, relaxed environment, 2-year-olds are able to grow, explore, question, experience and create at their own pace and in their own style. Join us on November 11th to meet the staff and parents of current students and have all your questions answered. Our program is non-sectarian and non-profit.
